STUFF ABOUT cece

One of the most exciting aspects of localizing Tumblr has been dealing with images that contain text.  As I am only fluent in English, this presents an interesting problem—are the buttons legible (or pretty, for that matter) in other languages?  If you speak Japanese and are familiar with graphic design and typography, please contact support. I’d love some advice on font choices, kerning, and anything else I should know.
These translations are not final. If you would like to participate in the Japanese beta, please email nihongo@tumblr.com

Has it been three years already?!
February was a month of big milestones for us, possibly the most exciting of which was that you guys viewed Tumblr more than a BILLION times. That’s 36 million times a day, 25,000 times a minute, and more than 400 times a second!
To say thank you, we have some beautiful, free, and awesome features we’ll be pushing this week.
And follow us on Twitter for some special news.
Thank you!!

twentythree is one of the best places on the net to find awe-inspiring photography, which might explain why it’s one of the most popular blogs on Tumblr. Curated by Karishma from Mumbai, India, it’s been active for almost two years and has racked up over 28,000 posts during that time. Karishma is a prolific Tumblr user who contributes to 12 Tumblr blogs on topics ranging from food to architecture to world travel.
Why did you start your blog? I started my blog because I needed a space for myself — to write, to vent, to share stuff with people who didn’t know me in real life.
What’s a sure way to show up on twentythree? Just strike my interest. Be beautiful. Have a good cause. Be fun and creative.
What do you find most rewarding about sharing your interests? The feedback, support, and responses I get from my followers. The kind messages and emails they send me are amazing.
What advice would you give to someone starting their blog? Focus on content. Make your blog your own. Don’t stress on the number of followers you have. Just give it time and patience and the followers will come your way.
Have you spent any time with your followers offline? I’m with one of my Tumblr followers right now! We’re shopping! I went to the Tumblr concert in New York and a Boston meetup to meet people, and I plan on meeting a whole bunch more.
What’s something about you that none of your followers know? I hate chocolate because it makes me sick and I’ve never eaten a bagel in my life!
Bonus Tumblrs!

Tied Together is an epic journey in response to a global health crisis in which Team Tumblr was proud to participate!

Name Mike Mitchell’s Tumblr of Amazing ThingsLocation Los AngelesFirst post August 2009
Freelance illustrator Mike Mitchell is perhaps best known for his “I’m with Coco” poster, but it’s his take on the universal “Viking riding a unicorn in space with lightning-emitting AK-47” concept that truly resonates with us. With a focus on pop culture and the utterly ridiculous, Mike posts his original works, the works of his friends and influences, and the things that make him laugh. He blew up the internet last week after receiving a thank-you note from comedian Zach Galifianakis for creating a splendid portrait. Mike lives in LA with his wife, Lauren, and various pets named Auggie, Belly, Emo, and Peeka.
